If you have considered connecting deeper at Indy Metro, a CityGroup might be a good next step for you. Our CityGroup’s follow a cycle of Learn-Play-Serve:
The learn portion of our groups are a time in which we dive into the truths of God’s word together and see how it relates to our lives. As we “Learn” together, we take time to center our attention on the Word of God. Our Citygroups are a great means of discipleship at Indy Metro and so together we press into the Scriptures and wrestle through the competing truths of our lives in a safe atmosphere. Our study time can be a book or a study but it must always point us back to the Scriptures. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
The play portion of our groups is the time when we just hang out and do something fun together. This is also an essential part of our groups. Who doesn’t like to have fun? This provides the opportunity for us to get to know each other on a deeper level then in just a bible study setting. “Playing” together is also perfect non-threatening opportunity to invite new people to join your group.
The serve element of our groups leads people to be serving together in the community! There is something about serving with other people that bonds them together! When you serve alongside the people in your group you have an opportunity to see and know them as they serve. This allows us to continue to grow in our intimacy with each other. It's a shared experience where you go out and see the world for what it is. All these things occur while we are being obedient and serving others as the hands and feet of Christ.
